As part of an international movement dedicated to relieving human suffering, the American Red Cross Bay Area Chapter supports relief efforts for international crises and helps reconnect families who have been torn apart by armed conflict and disaster. Residents of the Bay Area can learn more about international Red Cross efforts through a variety of courses and seminars designed to improve understanding of international humanitarian law and humanitarian relief efforts.
International Humanitarian Law Seminars
International Humanitarian Law encompasses both humanitarian principles and international treaties that seek to save lives and alleviate suffering of those affected by armed conflict. The Red Cross played a critical role in the development of international humanitarian law and continues to play a leading role in educating the general public about its importance.
The International Humanitarian Law Seminars are open to the public and provides an overview of the Geneva Conventions, the basic rules of international humanitarian law and the role of the Red Cross during armed conflict. Course Schedule
Red Cross instructors can also bring the seminar to your school or organization. For more information about an on-site International Humanitarian Law Seminar, please contact (415) 427-8064 or kelleyj@usa.redcross.org.
