In partnership with the Northern California Martin Luther King Jr., Community Foundation, the San Francisco Hospital Council, the San Francisco Department of the Environment, and the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission, and the American Red Cross Blood Services, the American Red Cross Bay Area Chapter is excited to be part of the planning committee for the 2011 Northern California MLK celebration: “Sustaining the Dream- Connecting Community and Service.”
The event will be held January 17, 2019 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium.
This upcoming year’s expanded focus on health, preparedness, and sustainability will bring together the region’s health providers for a one-day event of free services during the MLK celebration. The health festival, “Living the Dream…Through Better Health, Wellness, and Empowerment”, will house various services including, prostate and mammogram screenings, diabetes testing, dental screenings, and children health services.
This year’s event will also mark the first year the American Red Cross will be part of the festivities. The American Red Cross Blood Services will be holding a blood drive the day of the event and the American Red Cross Bay Area Chapter will be providing disaster preparedness programs and activities for the entire community. This will be a great opportunity to outreach and increase the awareness and importance of personal and family preparedness. We will be offering basic CPR/First Aid demonstrations, along with fun and engaging activities for everyone, and some very useful Red Cross giveaways.
We invite you all to be part this nearly 30 year tradition right here in the Bay Area! The goal of this event is to promote health, wellness, and preparedness as elements of fair, just, and vibrant communities as well as pay homage to a key figure in the fight for equality among all, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
We hope to see you all there!
