Award winning actress, country music superstar and American Red Cross National Celebrity Cabinet member Reba McEntire, a resident of Nashville, has donated $100,000 to the Nashville Area Red Cross Chapter, and encouraged social media devotees to text REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation to help those affected by the flooding.

Reba knows the importance of being prepared for the unexpected and also recorded public service announcements to educate people about how to be prepared for tornadoes and hurricanes.

Wynonna Judd, Amy Grant, Sara Evans, Alyssa Milano, Pat Green and Marlee Matlin all members of the American Red Cross National Celebrity Cabinet as well as Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney, Ryan Seacrest, the Zac Brown Band, Jo Dee Messina and Lady Antebellum have all used their social media platforms to promote texting  “REDCROSS” to 90999 to benefit Red Cross relief efforts.  Lady Antebellum has also posted a moving video which includes a Red Cross appeal for donations.

In Nashville, several local telethons will be held this week to raise funds to support Red Cross relief efforts. One telethon is expected to feature Nashville Predators Head Coach Barry Trotz, Tennessee Titans Head Coach Jeff Fisher, singer/songwriter Amy Grant and country music artist Phil Vassar.

A second telethon will benefit the Red Cross and other relief organizations. Scheduled to appear are country music stars Vince Gill, Amy Grant, Naomi Judd, Phil Vassar, and Lonestar.

If you would like to help, there are three ways that people can make a donation to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund: Visit redcross.org to donate online, call 1-800-REDCROSS, or make a $10 donation by texting REDCROSS to 90999.

Help people affected by disasters like the recent floods and tornadoes in the South, by donating to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. On those rare occasions when donations exceed Red Cross expenses for a specific disaster, contributions are used to prepare for and serve victims of other disasters. Your gift enables the Red Cross to prepare for disasters and provide shelter, food, emotional support and other assistance to victims of all disasters. Call 1-800-REDCROSS (1-800-733-2767) or 1-800-257-7575 (Spanish). Contributions to the Disaster Relief Fund may be sent to your local American Red Cross chapter or to the American Red Cross, P.O. Box 37243, Washington, DC 20013. Internet users can make a secure online contribution by visiting redcross.org.
