April is Pet First Aid Month! Accidents and emergencies don't just happen to people. Learn how you can take care of your pet with a Red Cross cat and dog first aid course. The Red Cross can help you learn how to maintain your pet's health, put together a pet first aid kit, give medications, recognize emergencies and administer first aid care.

While you are at it, learn what you can do to ensure your furry companion will be protected in the event of a natural or man-made disaster. Pets have unique needs, so it is essential that they have their own preparedness plan. This should include pet food, water and sanitary items, as well as a place to stay as many shelters only accept service animals after a disaster.

Get started on your pet's disaster preparedness plan by following this link to the Pets & Disaster Safety Guide.

Register for an upcoming cat and dog first aid course, and learn how to take care of your four-legged friend.
