Red Cross Youth Volunteer Ann Chen Receives Prudential Spirit of Community Award

March 10, 2010
The American Red Cross Bay Area Chapter would like to recognize the achievements of Ann Chen, a Red Cross Youth volunteer and president of the Youth for Chinese Elderly program at Galileo High School in San Francisco.
Chen was honored as a distinguished finalist in the Spirit of Community program. This program recognizes youth who stand out as a prime example of what young people are doing to improve their communities.
Chen’s involvement with the Red Cross was significant enough for the program to recognize her in the top 10 percent of all applicants. Chen devotes much of her time to being a Red Cross volunteer, and is committed to setting an example for bettering her community.
As she continues her work, Chen plans to work on bringing officers and members of Red Cross clubs closer together. She believes that working as one cohesive group rather than having distinctive titles ultimately furthers the goals of the group and the organization.
She will also be working on an educational project to inform young people in her community about the H1N1 influenza and how to prevent it from spreading.
Congratulations to Ann Chen for all of her hard work and dedication!
