Tuesday, December 22, 2019 — The American Red Cross and Amazon Payments are teaming up to provide an easy way for people to donate to the Red Cross – through their mobile phones.
Supporters are able to make financial donations to the Red Cross from their mobile phones by visiting http://www.redcross.org/go/donation_form. This page will take you to a mobile optimized donation form. Mobile donations can be made using an Amazon Payment account or credit card and will go to the Where the Need is Greatest Red Cross fund.
Amazon.com will promote mobile donations to the Red Cross on its mobile page from December 27 through January 2. Trial fundraising activity consists of the following elements:
- Amazon Payments and Red Cross will leverage social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter and blogs to spread the word about the new mobile way to give starting on or about December 22
- Red Cross will promote mobile giving to its supporters via broadcast email and a Facebook status update on December 28
This trial is testing a new and exciting way to donate. The majority of mobile phone users keep their mobile devices within an arm’s length of themselves, wherever they go, and mobile giving is a quick and convenient way to make a difference on the go.
About the American Red Cross:
The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disasters; supplies nearly half of the nation's blood; teaches lifesaving skills; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a charitable organization — not a government agency — and depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission.
