YCE Trains 12 New First Aid/CPR/AED Instructors in the Month of November

November proved to be an incredible month for the American Red Cross Bay Area Chapter’s Youth for Chinese Elderly program. Youth officers from the YCE’s nine high school clubs trained members in disaster preparedness all month long. Altogether, more than 200 youth members were trained. Additionally, 12 select youth leaders were chosen to become first aid/CPR/AED lay responder instructors.
After an extensive application and interview process, these 12 young people ranging from 16-17 years old, underwent a rigorous three-day training course before passing their instructor exams on November 25. As bilingual instructors, capable of teaching in both English and Cantonese, the new instructors are joining a unique group of youth instructors within the Asian community preparedness team at the chapter.
Congratulations to all of our new instructors, and the Red Cross looks forward to seeing this dedicated group teach lifesaving skills to the local community for years to come.
