Delegates for the Miss Black USA 2009 title visited American Red Cross National Headquarters in Washington, D.C. as part of their pageant week activities. Among the attendees were (from left) Miss Black Indiana Michelle Slayburgh, Miss Black USA 2008 Kristen White, Miss Black New York Adrienne Davis, and Miss Black District of Columbia Breyuna Williams.

The delegates are in the nation’s capital for the Miss Black USA Pageant, which runs from July 29 to August 4. They were invited to the Red Cross for a meet-and-greet with volunteers and employees, many of whom took the opportunity to get autographs and have their photos taken with the gracious young women.

The Miss Black USA Pageant and Scholarship Foundation is celebrating its 22nd year of promoting education and leadership among young women of color.

About the American Red Cross:
The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and counsels victims of disasters; provides nearly half of the nation's blood supply; teaches lifesaving skills; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a charitable organization — not a government agency — and depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its humanitarian mission.
