The Bay Area caught spring fever early this year with mini-heat waves bringing 90-degree weather in late April. As residents rush outside to enjoy the sunshine, the American Red Cross Bay Area Chapter is working hard to make sure that people stay safe and healthy this summer. Along with ongoing first aid, CPR and aquatics safety courses, this year the Red Cross is also hosting its first annual Healthy Families Fair in Oakland on Saturday, June 6.
The Healthy Families Fair is an opportunity for families and neighbors to spend the day playing outdoors while learning important information on how to keep healthy and safe this summer and throughout the year. The fair will feature games for kids, exercise and dance demonstrations, healthy food stalls and free 20-minute classes on hot summer safety topics like water safety and first aid. Attendees will also have the opportunity to get free child car seat installation inspection, massages and alternative therapy tips, 911-calling training for kids with the Oakland Fire Department, and much more. The fair will be held on Saturday, June 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Oakland Museum of California in the Great Court Gardens.
