The American Red Cross Bay Area is providing assistance to Tenderloin district residents left without power after yesterday's explosion and fire in a PG&E underground vault. The Red Cross has been on the scene since Friday evening, providing an estimated 130 residents at 990 Polk - many of whom are elderly or disabled - with flashlights, blankets, food and assistance with special needs. The Red Cross will remain on the scene to assist residents in the area and support first responders until power is restored.

Affected residents in need of assistance can call 1-888-4-HELP-BAY or contact Red Cross personnel on the scene at Polk and Geary.

To support the Red Cross in its mission of providing aid to Bay Area residents affected by this or other emergencies, please contact the American Red Cross Bay Area Chapter at 1-888-4-HELP-BAY or
