Recently the Condé Nast Traveller magazine hosted its annual “Hot List” party in New York city, celebrating the magazine’s upcoming May issue and kicking off a silent auction to benefit the American Red Cross.

The annual “Hot List” is an insider’s guide to the newest and hottest hotels, clubs and restaurants that have opened all over the world this year. Keeping with the issue’s theme, an advertorial that highlights volunteers who are “Hot to Help” the American Red Cross is also included in the magazine’s “Hot List” issue. The party, held Tuesday, April 18, in New York was attended by many celebrities including Red Cross National Celebrity Cabinet member Marcia Gay Harden, who is one of the volunteers featured in the advertorial.

The Red Cross National Celebrity Cabinet is an award-winning combination of well-respected actors, musical artists, athletes, television stars and other public figures. This year's cabinet is comprised of more than 44 talented individuals. Sherry Lansing, former chairman and CEO, Motion Picture Group, Paramount Pictures and member of the Red Cross Board of Governors, has agreed once again to chair this year’s Celebrity Cabinet, marking her fourth year as chair.

Developed in 2002, the Celebrity Cabinet asks members to be on-call for a one-year period to help the Red Cross by donating their time, skills and energy when it is needed the most. The well-recognized volunteers that make up the Celebrity Cabinet contribute their time to help the Red Cross highlight important initiatives, programs, services and response efforts throughout the year.

“The American Red Cross is often top of mind when disaster strikes – people know they can turn to the Red Cross whether they need help or want to help others,” said Julie Whitmer, Director of Celebrity and Entertainment Outreach for the Red Cross. “Events such as this one with Condé Nast Traveller and the talented people who come out to support them bring awareness about the organization as well as much needed fundraising support when the everyday disasters – life’s emergencies that keep local Red Crossers busy 365 days a year – aren’t making national headlines.”

The “Hot List” silent auction included luxury accommodations at some of the world’s most glamorous hotels. The eBay auction will benefit the Red Cross and can be accessed online through May 18.

Other celebrities in attendance included Drew Lachey, Russell Simmons, Susan Sarandon, Lindsay Lohan, Mandy Moore and Carson Kressley.
